While Cubase and Nuendo are hugely popular DAW environments in both project and professional studios alike, Steinberg, the company behind them, hasn’t achieved the same success with its virtual instruments. But while they may not be as impressive as its flagship DAW packages, there are still some interesting concepts being developed by the company. Its virtual musician trio of applications (Groove Agent, Virtual Guitarist and Virtual Bassist), for example, are designed to provide controllable backing tracks for musicians or producers lacking the budget to hire session musicians.
