It can’t be easy thinking up new instruments capable of making an impact on today’s over-saturated synth and sampler sound software market: how many significantly different ways can you combine analogue synth modules? How many new ways are there to use a collection of samples? Giving the user a vast range of controls and encouraging them to ‘get creative’ may enable manufacturers to claim their products are limited only by our imaginations – but most musicians are getting wise to this and, as we all know, the majority of people tend not to create their own sounds anyway.
