There always seems to be a lot of controversy surrounding headphones. Is it or isn’t it possible to use them for mixing? Do closed- or open-cup designs produce the best results? Are headphones bad for your hearing? Is it necessary to use studio ’phones or will good-quality hi-fi designs suffice? There are more questions than answers – though given the lack of thought most people give to their choice of headphones, that’s hardly surprising.
