Analogue mixers serve a number of important functions in the studio during both the recording and mixing processes. During tracking the mixer serves as a means of amplifying the signal, provides EQ and offers control over effect sends. During the mixing phase, the same analogue mixer can be ‘played’ by the engineer, placing and moving tracks in the mix and controlling the addition of further effects.
