As laptops have developed to the point where they now rival many desktop computers in terms of power and performance, they have become increasingly suitable for musicians to use as portable recording devices. It remains true, however, that in many cases laptop hardware isn’t quite up to the exacting standards required for pro-audio work. This is most often the case with soundcards, which may only support resolutions of 44.1kHz, and can suffer latency problems.
