Although computer specs have been advancing at a stupendous rate, the hard truth is that for we musos this has been coupled by an equally rapid advance in the software that we use. Not that that’s a bad thing – the plug-ins we get to play with these days are truly remarkable. The problem is that to make the most of these tools we need machines that are at the cutting edge of technology – and that doesn’t come cheap. That’s where hardware such as TC’s PowerCore truly shines. Admittedly, for what you pay for something like PowerCore you could easily keep up with the advances made in processor and RAM specs. However, the unarguable quality of the plug-ins and the reduced strain on your computer make plug-ins very attractive. On top of that, TC seems to have a never-ending stream of studio tools up its sleeve. This quartet of plug-ins further expands an already comprehensive range.
