Native Instruments Kompakt
NI’s new sample player offers crowd-pleasing sample-format compatibility, but is it up to scratch? Bob Dormon mulls it over...
Price: £150.00
Manufacturer: Native Instruments

Kompakt is a Mac- and PC-compatible sample player built around an eight-part, multi-timbral playback engine and operating as a standalone application or as a VST or DXi plug-in instrument. It’s supplied with four CDs literally crammed with samples; installation prompts an on-line registration procedure to authorise the application with a serial number. A grace period is given should you wish to complete the process later, but forget and the application will expire in 30 days.
