Yamaha KX25

We’d all like a little more hands-on control over our software, but can Yamaha’s KX25 deliver? Hollin Jones finds out.

Price: £190.00
Manufacturer: Yamaha
Website: http://www.yamahasynth.com

MIDI controller keyboards are commonplace these days, so it often takes something a little more unusual to catch the attention, both in terms of design and functionality. Yamaha has concentrated on the latter with its new KX series of controllers, which come in 25-, 49-, 61- and 88-key versions. The look is rather stark and minimalist, although with full-size keys, even the 25-key model reviewed here is perfectly playable and surprisingly light. As well as a USB port carrying power and MIDI, the rear panel sports 1x1 MIDI I/O and a sustain pedal input.

Score: 7
