Applied Acoustics Systems Lounge Lizard EP-3
The latest version of AAS’ electric piano boasts a dramatically improved feature set – among other things. JoE Silva looks in.
Price: £150.00

You need only witness one poor roadie loading a vintage electric piano into a van to know that any improvements to virtual instruments such as Applied Acoustic Systems’ EP-3 Lounge Lizard are a good thing. Sure, it made sense in 1971 for people like John Paul Jones to haul a Rhodes Suitcase 73 around the world from gig to gig – even at more than 45kg they were still lighter than real pianos and much easier to amplify – but there’d be little rationale for doing it now. Purists and traditionalists may scoff, but if high-profile musicians such as Herbie Hancock are willing to opt for virtual instrumentation, why wouldn’t a young blues band from Lincolnshire?
