The stalwart SM58 no longer reigns supreme as ‘the only’ live vocal microphone. Of course, the robust old trooper has certain advantages – particularly if you recall the way Iggy Pop, Tina Turner and Roger Daltrey treated them – but no one could ever pretend that they offered pristine, hi-fi sound quality.
