The introduction of the M1 in 1988 revolutionised the way people thought about technology in music. The first ever workstation, it defined the concept of an all-in-one sequencer and sample-based synth that could be used to produce entire tracks. Since then things have moved on considerably, and after a marathon seven years in production it was eventually superseded by the T Series, 01/W and Triton models, each building on the strengths of the last.
