Vintagedesign M73D
Vintagedesign’s M73D preamp echoes many of the design features of a Neve 1073. Mark Cousins takes a listen.
Price: £695.00

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so it comes as no surprise to see that Vintagedesign’s love of classic Class A recording equipment has manifested itself in a range of Neve-like devices. From the 1073-inspired CA73 mk2 right through to the 33609-like C1 compressor, Vintagedesign’s range of preamps and signal processors promise to capture the sound and performance of 60s and 70s recording gear without the inflated price tag. However, although preamps like the M73D certainly look in keeping, do they really deliver the same sonic flair they seek to replicate?
Score: 8
