Digidesign Mbox 2
The simplest route into the Pro Tools universe gets a makeover, but what does the Mbox 2 offer over the original design? Mark Cousins gets boxed up...
Price: £335.00
Manufacturer: Digidesign
Website: http://www.digidesign.com

Digidesign’s Mbox is one of the few audio interfaces that can lay claim to having started a small (but important) revolution in recording. Running a session in Pro Tools once necessitated vast racks of prohibitively expensive hardware audio interfaces and high-performance computers, but ever since the Mbox arrived, anybody with a laptop (or any suitable USB-enabled computer) could access one of the finest digital audio workstations going. Rather than hiring expensive studios to chip away at their Pro Tools session, engineers and producers could sit in the comfort of their own living rooms and enjoy a large part of the functionality and sound quality that made Digidesign the market leader in professional recording circles.
