One of the criticisms often levelled at Pro Tools is the fact that anyone wanting to use it had very few choices when it came to compatible audio hardware, which until recently had to be either an HD rig, 002 or Mbox. Since the acquisition of M-Audio by Digidesign’s parent Avid, however, Pro Tools users have seen the choice of hardware options expand rapidly, with M-Audio’s own range of audio interfaces and an expanded Mbox 2 family joining the lineup. The Mbox 2 Mini, then, is the latest addition to the Mbox 2 family, essentially stripping the Mbox 2 down to a bare minimum feature set.
