When Melodyne was first introduced in 2001, it rapidly defined new standards for the manipulation of time and pitch in audio recording. Even though elements of Melodyne’s technology had been available in other plug-ins – in particular, formant-preserving pitch shifting – it took a company like Celemony to turn the concept into a coherent, intuitive and flexible application.
