Yamaha MG8/2FX
Yamaha’s smallest mixer to date packs a surprising number of features into its diminutive frame. George Shilling checks it out.

There are numerous applications for small analogue mixers these days, so building a mixer that meets the various demands of every type of use would be something of an achievement. Yamaha, however, has seemingly managed to pull off just such a feat with its MG range of analogue mixers – now comprising eight models, from this little 8-into-2, right up to a 32-into-14 behemoth. This one is very similar to the MG10/2 – indeed, it looks to be exactly the same, but it has two channels fewer and features onboard stereo digital effects.
