Designed for connection to MIDI hardware via the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer interface, this MIDI controller App for your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad gives you a choice of six drum pads, a keyboard, eight sliders or an X-Y pad, all of which offer a fair degree of customisation. The pads and keyboard output note information, the X-Y pad and sliders output controller information, and all surfaces have independent control of the transmitted MIDI channel In practice, we found by far the most useful and enjoyable controllers of the four were the sliders and X-Y pad, as latency seemed a lot lower when using these than with the drum pads and keyboard.The inability to play two tracks from your iTunes library at different speeds is why the iPhone lacks many DJ Apps. Touch DJ gets around this by using a separate library for your mp3 files that you fill via Wi-Fi from a Mac or PC. BPM is calculated on import and the readout helps you visually match tempo as soon as you start a mix. The software has impressive audio controls, comprising two channel faders, a crossfader and three-band EQ, kill and filter per channel.
