Keyboard workstations are now so advanced that the kind of feature set currently found on ‘entry-level’ models would not so long ago have only been seen much higher up the product range. And Yamaha’s MM8 – essentially the MM6 but with an 88-key weighted hammer-action keyboard – maintains this trend, bringing a proper piano feel to its entry-level keyboard range. The case has had a minor redesign and it is, of course, significantly larger than the MM6, although it’s still remarkably light for an 88-key model.
Score: 8
