There are various schools of thought when it comes to using multi-band compression. Some will argue that you should be able to achieve a good mix with solid EQ, single-band compression and good levels alone, while others swear by it as a go-to tool for getting the maximum loudness out of a track or mix. Either way, it can be highly effective in the right hands – or devastating if used incorrectly.
