PSP Audioware Neon
EQ plug-ins are many and varied, so does PSP’s Neon brighter than its peers? George Shilling finds out.
Manufacturer: PSP Audioware
Website: http://www.pspaudioware.com

The small Polish firm PSP Audioware has developed some interesting plug-ins that have won the company loyal fans around the globe. Designed mainly for mastering, the company’s latest product – Neon – is a linear phase EQ that utilises different technology from conventional EQ plug-ins, which have a tendency to smear the phase relationships of different frequencies. For precision mastering, where signal integrity is paramount, the linear phase model is a desirable approach. But for true ‘finite impulse response’ filtering, thousands more calculations are needed than would be in standard EQ plug-ins, far exceeding the capabilities of even the fastest processors.
