Powerful laptops have brought about something of a revolution in the way electronic music is performed live. Only a few years ago, virtual instruments required high-spec desktop machines, but even those couldn’t always be relied on for stability. Now, laptops have more than enough processing power for the task. This has enabled musicians to take their laptop on stage and use it as a versatile instrument, capable of running numerous synths, samplers and effects simultaneously.
