Audix OM2 & OM3
Can any mic ever eclipse Shure’s SM58 and SM57? Audix mics are catching on fast in the US and have just crossed the Pond. Huw Price gets dynamic.
Price: £77.00
Manufacturer: Audix
Website: http://www.audixusa.com
Anyone who has ever played live or worked as a PA engineer is guaranteed to have encountered a Shure SM58 vocal microphone or an SM57 instrument microphone somewhere along the line. Those two icons of the microphone world have been around since the early 1960s and set the standard for live work and many areas of studio recording. But the two Audix microphones we are looking at this month are fast becoming the new industry standards in the US. They have been around since 1989, but have suffered a five-year absence from these shores. Now they are available once again.
Score: 8
