Back in the 70s, recording on the move was an option only for wealthy rock stars or bands lucky enough to secure large record company advances. At that time, the term ‘mobile recording unit’ meant a large truck containing a 24-track recorder, mixing console, racks of outboard gear, dozens of mics and endless reels of cables.
