While the rest of the world was giving its vinyl collection to the Salvation Army and buying wholesale into the CD dream, DJs refused to drop their decks. And, despite noble attempts by the likes of Pioneer and Tascam to convince them otherwise, many top professional DJs continue to eschew the CD format, preferring the feel, immediacy and sound of 12-inchers – not to mention the pose value of being stooped over ‘proper’ turntables rather than a small box with a couple of CD drives built into it.
