AKG’s Perception range of condenser mics is now well established. The original series was aimed at home recordists, but four new models were recently unveiled at the 2008 Musikmesse in Frankfurt. These include a small-diaphragm condenser called the Perception 170, plus the microphones we are reviewing this month – a medium-capsule condenser called the Perception 120 and two large-capsule condensers called the Perception 220 and 420.
