Having kicked off the amp and effects emulation revolution with Amp Farm and the POD range of hardware processors, Line 6 products are now something of an industry benchmark. However, while successive revisions improved the quality of the emulations, users were still required to invest in dedicated hardware – either Line 6’s own POD range or Pro Tools TDM systems – to run the Amp Farm software. Users of other DAWs running native processing were unable to use Amp Farm, which left them turning to similar software from the likes of Native Instruments and IK Multimedia – bad news for Line 6.
