For a long time, dual-processor Macs represented the top end of Apple’s range and were considerably more expensive than their single-CPU counterparts. With the move to OSX and the G5 processor in the company’s desktop range, dual processors became the standard. The last-but-one revision of the Power Mac G5 saw the single-processor model phased out entirely.
