When it comes to programming a suite of plug-ins focused on the three key areas of sound processing – compression, EQ and reverb – it’s clear that software developers are going to need to offer something interesting to make their product stand out. One solution is to re-create hardware using modelling, which offers the sound of classic compressors, EQs and reverb units along with all the ease we’ve come to expect when working in the virtual domain. Wave Arts, however, has produced some truly contemporary plug-ins, resplendent with a range of functions and features that hardware would struggle to implement.
