It’s hard to say whether the increasing number of vintage keyboard emulators on the market has influenced the recent resurgence of electropop or vice versa. Whichever way round it is, today’s musicians seem still to have a hunger for some of the sounds generated by the analogue monsters of yesteryear. Artists such as Goldfrapp, Madonna and even Radiohead are all using bleeps, sweeps and squelches in their music like nobody’s business.
