Pro.Ton3 is a Reason ReFill with a difference – it claims to be a virtual analogue synth within Reason’s rack. Of course, this isn’t literally the case, since Reason doesn’t support third-party add-on instruments. What it does, however, is utilise the NN-XT in clever and creative ways to combine multi-layered samples and waveforms, usually reacting to velocity, aftertouch and the like to produce some great sounds. The NN-XT is capable of hosting some pretty complex multi-sampled instruments and the programmer here has certainly spent time setting them up to create some really inventive patches that react extremely well to your playing.
