Avid Pro Tools 9
With Pro Tools’ position as ‘top DAW’ challenged in recent years, Mike Hillier explores version 9 to see if it can reclaim the crown.
Price: £430.00
Manufacturer: Avid
Website: http://www.avid.com

At the press event to launch Pro Tools 9, Avid’s Head Of Product Management, Paul Foeckler, acknowledged that the company’s reputation had been tarnished and that users thought of the company as ‘the Evil Empire’ . Which presumably means that Apple (Logic), Yamaha (Cubase/Nuendo) and Cakewalk (Sonar) are the Rebel Alliance and Paul is probably Darth Vader, or at the very least Grand Moff Tarkin.
Score: 10
