The software-versus-hardware debate thankfully seems to have died down of late, with most people accepting that a combination of the two is the way forward. Typically, this means using software in the studio and hardware on stage. The problem, especially for keyboard players, is that a lot of the most innovative new instruments are being developed purely in software form. The industry answer up until now has been to take a laptop on stage and run your plug-ins from V-Stack, Logic, Rax or something similar.
