One of the great challenges facing computer-based musicians has been the problem of adapting samples and loops to fit projects. Hardware samplers can timestretch, but pitch and quality tend to suffer. Software sequencers and wave editors give you more flexibility with modifying loops, but again there are limits to what you can achieve.
