There’s something rather ironic about the fact that most people’s first purchase after kitting themselves out with every software application and plug-in imaginable is a hardware device to control them all with. Perhaps we quickly discover that pushing a tiny arrow around a screen and trying to turn virtual knobs with a mouse that doesn’t seem to understand the concept of rotary motion isn’t much fun – better to have something real and more tactile under your fingers while creating your latest masterpiece.
