Novation turned the USB MIDI controller market upside down earlier this year with the release of the ReMOTE SL series, which again demonstrated the company’s knack for making ground-breaking studio gear. These were the first controllers to incorporate the company’s revolutionary new AutoMap function, which automatically loads templates for certain instruments and applications without any user interaction. The ReMOTE SL range initially consisted of two-, three- and five-octave MIDI keyboards, each with the same bank of controllers across the top of the keyboard. With the ReMOTE ZeRO SL, however, Novation has done away with the keyboard, leaving users with a bank of MIDI controls that can be used in conjunction with any MIDI keyboard.
