Tannoy has been making loudspeakers since 1933, and if you walked into any top UK studio from the 1960s through to the 1980s, you probably would have seen a set of Tannoy speakers in use. 15-inch drivers in huge Lockwood cabinets driven by valve amps and Tannoy Golds or Little Reds are still used by many studios and hi-fi enthusiasts, but for a while Tannoy seemed to be concentrating exclusively on the hi-fi market.
