Rob Papen’s range of software instruments – which includes Albino, Blue and Predator – have been building a keen and loyal following over the last few years thanks to an innovative and contemporary take on virtual instrument design. As well as featuring a range of cutting-edge synthesis tools, one aspect that has helped all of these instruments stand out has been the inclusion of some form of step sequencer or arpeggiator, providing an extra layer of rhythm and movement to many of the patches. Rob Papen’s latest offering, therefore, takes this step sequencer approach to the logical ‘next level’, with a plug-in dedicated to re-creating the rhythmic chops of a guitarist in full swing.
Score: 7
