Can Quested’s latest entry into the active monitor market build on the company’s success? Huw Price ploughs the nearfield.

These unassuming, infinite-baffle black ash boxes play mini-me to the Quested S8s we reviewed last year (Issue 30) – even the Morel tweeter is the same, but the woofer is a 5-inch paper-cone Ciare. Naturally, the S6s don’t pack the same power as the S8s, but 65 watts for the bass and 45 watts for the treble isn’t bad. The S6s aren’t designed to go right down to subsonic depths, but Quested suggests that they are well suited to surround sound applications or studio mixing and recording – especially when used in conjunction with the company’s SB subwoofer.
