Focusrite Saffire LE
One of last year’s most exciting FireWire interfaces gets a sleek makeover for 2006. Mark Cousins fires it up...
Price: £239.00
Manufacturer: Focusrite

Since we first looked at Focusrite’s Saffire back in Issue 30, the Saffire product range has grown to encompass three different interfaces: the original DSP-powered Saffire, the input/output-laden Saffire PRO 26 i/o, and now the latest addition to the family – Saffire LE. The original Saffire certainly impressed us, packing in the kind of audio performance you’d expect from Focusrite alongside an innovative DSP input processing system (to process an audio input ahead of it reaching the DAW) and one of the best pieces of control software we’d seen. Building on this reputation, the Saffire PRO 26 i/o gave the professional user even more inputs and outputs, enabling the interface to integrate effectively into console-based studios.
