People get very puritanical about effects. The perceived wisdom is always that ‘less is more’ and that effects should be used sparingly. Unfortunately – or fortunately, perhaps – history is littered with examples of people who break the rules (or didn’t know the rules existed), and every now and then you’ll hear a stonking track that’s dripping in reverb or swamped with swirling chorus effects.
