With ReWire and a host of new features, Sibelius 6 claims to cut scoring times by up to half. Keith Gemmell tries it out.

With Sibelius now under the Avid umbrella (the company also responsible for Pro Tools) and as it’s been two years since the last update, expectations for version 6 of Sibelius have been high. And as expected, Sibelius 6 does indeed include features derived from other Avid products, but in the main, Avid seems to have concentrated on improving the notation facilities and user workflow, seemingly with a view to reducing the time spent producing scores.
