Given the ease with which music can be created on sequencers and desktop recording systems these days, most musicians will at some point have a crack at composing either songs or commercial instrumental music. For those songwriters who are also guitarists, the composition process is usually a matter of firstly finding a chord sequence you like and then singing a melody over it. It’s a fairly instinctive process and doesn’t require a background in formal composition to write a catchy song.
