Altavoz Singular
The Altavoz Singular contains left and right drivers in one box, but it promises a wide stereo image courtesy of Embracing Sound technology. Huw Price gets single-minded.

The Altavoz Singular has high-end drivers packed in two medium-sized two-way bass reflex enclosures – but strangely they are enclosed in one box and squashed together. So, you’d expect the sound produced to be more or less monophonic, but it isn’t. Altavoz includes an ESE-1 decoder with the package that processes the left and right signals into sum and difference – just like a mid-and-side microphone pair. It’s a small black box with its own 12-volt wall-wart power supply that slots right in between the sound source and your amplifier, connecting via phono inputs and outputs.
