Since surround audio emerged from the darkened halls of the cinema and became comfortably installed in the nation’s homes, more and more audio recording professionals have to consider mastering in a surround format as an option. DVD-A and Super Audio Compact Disc (SACD), for example, deliver an immersive audio-only experience with artists from David Bowie to Destiny’s Child choosing to mix in this format.
