It seems like only yesterday we were exploring the new features in Sonar 5, but Cakewalk has refused to let the grass grow under its feet and version 6 is now with us. Competition in this sector of music technology is fierce, with the big hitters such as Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools and Sonar all marketing themselves as ‘total’ solutions for music production. From a consumer point of view this is great news, because it tends to have the effect of driving innovation even faster – as demonstrated by the recent raft of major music software releases.
