Sound Mixing Tips and Tricks by  Eddie Bazil

Sound Mixing Tips and TricksThe first few steps into the world of mixing can be the most daunting. Each of the tools has to be approached individually, from basic levels and panning to more complex EQ, dynamics and special effects processing.

If you haven’t come across many of the terms used in music production, learning these tools can be even more confusing. Eddie Bazil’s guide describes how to go about a mix in a logical manner, using simple language that even complete novices will be able to get their heads around.

The book is accompanied by downloadable audio files that include before and after examples of each of the techniques used in the book. Readers following the book from start to finish will work through a complete mix, practising each of the important aspects of a mix along the way.

The examples of the book focus on Cubase as the DAW, with screengrabs taken from the software; however, all of the techniques are equally applicable in other DAWs and, in most cases, will work in exactly the same way on all DAWs and even in analogue mixing environments.

Sound Mixing Tips And Tricks is a great introduction to mixing, but if you have already completed a few of your own mixes and you are happy with the results, there isn’t much here that will expand your horizons beyond the basic tools you are probably already comfortable using.

7/10 Verdict: Eddie Bazil’s book takes an absolute beginner through everything you need to know to craft your first mix.
