Sound restoration is one of those areas of technology which has gone from frighteningly expense to ridiculously cheap in little more than a decade. And by expensive, we mean expensive – many thousands of pounds for a state-of-the-art system in the late 80s. Nowadays, you’ll find several types of noise reduction routinely included as DSP functions on a number of audio-editing applications and also as plug-ins suitable for use with any suitably equipped sequencer.
