Emagic Space Designer
If you use a Mac and Logic, Emagic’s new reverb plug-in should prove to be more of an impulse buy. Bob Dormon gets spaced out…

Unless you’re lucky enough to own a large hall, church, or perhaps your own cave, the chances are that it won’t be ambient mics but a digital reverb you’ll be relying on to create realistic sound environments. These are versatile, easier to find than a church hall, and provide convincing emulations of a wide variety of acoustic spaces. Choosing a reverb unit is largely a matter of taste, but if you stray into Lexicon territory, you’ll have to admit that there’s something about those simulated spaces that take some beating.
Score: 9
