According to Mackie, the world is full of ‘honky’ PA systems. There’s no doubt about that, but will its new SRM350 active speakers give you studio-quality sound reinforcement? Huw Price takes it to the Macks.

If you are playing as a solo artist or part of a duo, arranging presentations or conferences, or you need sound reinforcement for a church or school, a portable high-quality PA system is a must. At 14.5kg, the ultra-rigid SRM350 cabinet is manageable only thanks to both a top and side handle. It can be mounted on a tripod stand or hung using an optional extra accessory plate from the top and bottom. What’s more, the asymmetrical trapezoid design enables it to be placed on the floor to be used as a wedge monitor.
