With many professional users now choosing to mix entirely ‘in-thebox’, there’s been a steady rise in the number of plug-ins modelling the sound and functionality of classic studio consoles. Of all the current plug-i developers, though, Waves has arguably applied the most effort, collating a series of ‘console-grade’ plug-ins including the Neve-like V-Series as well as the offi cially endorsed API Collection and SSL 4000 plug-ins. Although each series has been available individually for some time now, the recent release of the Studio Classic Collections finally unites them in the same bundle – but can this combinatio really deliver that ‘big-console’ sound?
